Two of the 4 hits generated by Sting were by Sarah Muzik, with the other hits supplied by Destiny Jimenez and a scorching shot by Deanne Garza down the left field line for a double. The rest of the line-up was stymied throughout the game as Sting was not able to mount any serious scoring threat.
The Birmingham Vipers started the scoring in their half of the 1st inning with 3 runs to grab a quick lead against Sting starter Deanne Garza. Deanne was replaced in the third inning by Haley Wymbs; Vipers added two more runs against Haley to take a 5 run lead.
Haley shut down the Vipers the remainder of the way but unfortunately, the Sting bats were not able to respond to chip away at the Vipers lead. A potential two-out rally in the top of the Sting seventh inning was put down by the Vipers as Deanne Garza was throw out at third as she gamely tried to stretch a hard hit double into a triple to end the game.
