It was another stellar pitching performance for one of Archbishop Mitty's Ricketts sisters as University of Hawaii bound senior Stephanie tossed a one-hit shutout to defeat Monterey 9-0 in a Central Coast Section Division II semifinal Tuesday at PAL Stadium.

Now Coach Sarah Thomas has a decision to make - who should pitch in Saturday's final against West Catholic Athletic League rival Presentation?

The right-handed Stephanie, who will be attending the University of Hawaii this Fall , improved to 9-1 by striking out 11 against Monterey, or the left-handed Keilani (11-1), a junior who has committed to Oklahoma and possesses a powerful style that leaves batters baffled?

Thomas wasn't about to tip her hand after Tuesday's win.

"We wanted to get a look at Stephanie today, because she hasn't pitched since the WCAL playoffs," said Thomas, whose team will be playing for its fourth straight Division II title Saturday at PAL at a time to be determined. "It's a real nice problem for a coach to have."

The Monarchs (23-2-1) didn't have any problems against Monterey starter Sarah Hoag.

Mitty already led 1-0 when Jillian Anderson singled to lead off the third and scored on a single by cleanup hitter Sydney Frangieh. Nicole Arce singled, and Ricketts helped her own cause with a two-run single to give the Monarchs a 4-0 lead.

Mitty's Shea Williams (3 for 3) and Lindsay Norton (2 for 3) got another rally started in the fourth with consecutive singles. Both scored on a bases-loaded shot up the middle by AlainaThomas.

With the score 7-0, Frangieh smoked a blast to right-center in the sixth for an RBI triple and scored the final run on a groundout by Arce.

"The top of the order sets it up nice for me every game - getting runners in scoring position consistently," Frangieh said. "They make my job a lot easier. I can be relaxed and focused on doing my job and driving those runs in."

It will be the third meeting between Mitty and Presentation this year, but the first with both teams at full strength.

The Panthers beat Mitty 4-1 early in the season when the Ricketts sisters were still playing basketball. Mitty beat Presentation 2-0 later in the year, when Panthers ace Molly Medeiros was sidelined by an injury.
